What should we wear for the Sadie Hawkins Dance (Middle School)?

What shirt should my friend and I wear? Me and my best friend (Opposite Gender) are going as friends. We're wearing blue jeans (pants) and we don't know what shirt to wear? Should we get customized shirts or should we just buy them? Color?
