Is double-majoring helpful?

You want to double major in mechanical engineering...and something else? I strongly advise you not to do this. Engineering degrees are very tough; they are about five years worth of cles crammed into 4. To add another major on top of this will likely extended your undergraduate education to 5, maybe even 6 years. Consider minoring in one of these subjects if possible. Or just taking a few cles for fun.
