Why is it that immigrants come to the U.S and do not instill their heritage and tradition on their children?

The kids don't even speak their own language. Once they learn English, it is like they never had another language. It is up to the parents to teach them to be proud of their heritages and traditions. I was so saddened to hear Bobby Jindal on 60 minutes say that they do not have any Indian traditions in their family. How sad! Yes we are Americans, but it does not mean you forget where you come from or who your parents are! He is Indian and he changed his name to Bobby and left his Hindu religion. How sad his parents must be! I am married to an Indian and you bet that my kids will know their heritage and their language. That is what makes them an individual!
