How long does Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner have to go to school till? ( DNP)?

I want to be recognized as Nurse also be recognized as a medical student. I want to be a Family nurse practitioner. I heard this professional program called DNP which is Doctorate Nurse Practioner. How long does this takes. Usually Nurse practioner takes abut 6 years how long does DNP takes. If it is about 1 year i think i can do it.
